"La Vita e bella" or "Life is beautiful" is the extraordinary tale of Guido (Roberto Benigni), a Jewish Italian bookkeeper and life-enthusiast who meets a beautiful young woman, marries her and have a son with the sole aim to live a happy uneventful life. Sadly, this movie is set in the late 1930s and the Nazi regime soon takes over. Being Jewish, Guido and his family are sent to separate concentration camps: the wife to a women's camp and Guido and his son to a men's camp. Guido maintains his unbelievable appetite for life and incredible optimism, and makes his son believe that their incarceration and the privations they endure are nothing but a game. Despite the cruelty of their situation, Guido and his son will actually maintain a happy and joyful relationship, obliterating anything else.
