Nervous and stressed out policeman Robert Hansen (Jakob Cedergren) gets temporarily reassigned from Copenhagen to a rural Denmark outpost due to his unstable nature. At first Robert finds his work in this gloomy marshy village fairly simple and easy. He soon finds out that it's to good to be true. The locals have a prepossession for cowboy justice and don't take kind to strangers. Further complications arrive with a local woman Ingelise (Lene Maria Christensen) who is trying to escape the clutches of an abusive husband Jørgen (Kim Bodnia). Ingelise entices Robert with her charm into helping her with her predicament.
